Common Bad Health Habits, And What To Do Instead

Common Bad Health Habits, And What To Do Instead

We all have our fair share of bad habits – we’re only human, after all! But when it comes to trying to live a healthier life, those bad habits can make or break your long-term success.

Here’s a list of some of the most common bad health habits that we see, and what you can do instead to ensure that you’re on the path to achieving all of your goals.

Bad habit: Eating out too much.

Yes, eating out is super convenient. We get it! Not only do you not have to cook at all yourself, but you get your pick from a variety of your favorite foods, plus the atmosphere when you’re with your favorite people usually beats eating at home.

But eating out is unquestionably hard on your health when you’re doing it too often. Restaurant foods taste good because they’re often filled with way more heavy and fattening ingredients than you wouldn’t normally use in your own home kitchen.

Solution: Use a meal prep delivery service instead

By ordering a good amount of your foods from a meal prep delivery service, you get all the convenience of ordering delivery from your favorite restaurant, but without the excess calories and indulgent ingredients you might get from restaurant cooking.

Bad habit: “Winging it.”

Not having a plan is one of the worst things that you can do if you’re trying to improve your health. It makes it way too easy to slip into old habits, ignore the healthy ingredients in your fridge, and overindulge elsewhere, especially if you’re having a couple of days where you just don’t have the motivation to prepare something healthy.

Solution: Get into the habit of meal prepping.

Meal prepping means preparing larger batches of food that you can eat throughout the week. This means that you don’t have to spend a ton of time in the kitchen every single day, which ultimately means that you have a much better backup plan than you would if you just “winged it” without a real plan.

Bad habit: Treating the entire weekend as “cheat days.”

After a week of working hard and sticking to your plan, it’s easy to want to let loose and treat Saturday and Sunday like a free-for-all. Unfortunately, if you don’t approach this the right way, it can easily undo a good amount of the hard work that you’ve done during the weekday, meaning you need to start all over again once Monday hits.

Solution: Have healthy backups in your fridge.

Rather than letting yourself go completely free during the weekends, instead limit your “cheats” to a handful of indulgences that you really want, and stick to your healthier meal plan for the rest of the time. This way, you can still have fun, but not to the point that you’re cancelling out all of your progress.
